Community Conversation Feedback – Public Policy and Defining Service

In September, we hosted six Community Conversations in which we invited students, staff, faculty and community partners to discuss discrete elements of Community Engagement. Summaries of these meetings are now available.

Defining Service

An overarching theme in our discussions on Community Engagement has focused on faculty, and their role in a potential increase in Community Engagement activity. How then, do we appropriately recognize their contributions?

Discussions questions included: How do faculty members communicate Community Engagement contributions? What forms of faculty recognition are appropriate for Community Engagement? How do we measure Community Engagement for the purposes of tenure and promotion?

Public Policy

Our third discussion focused on contributions to public policy and its relationship to Community Engagement. Questions discussed included: How do we facilitate Engagement of students and faculty in public policy development? How and what do we Communicate about this form of engagement? How do we appropriately support community partners.
